Video Games Live, Finally

HOLY SHITOSEMLTSEKMGES>D<FM.

My mind is still fuxx0red by the fact that Video Games Live came to Kuala Lumpur.

But. But. But.

I made the effort by going to KL to catch the show.

YYYYYEAH! I even bought two tickets. Initially it was a huge mistake, but damn, it never was one. Hell, luckily I even bought two.

Anyway, I arrived KL at 11pm on Friday. Used KLIA Express and the LRT to Gombak, my aunt’s place. So I arrived at Gombak around 12am.

Tiring journey wey. ;_;

BUT I HAD TO DO IT. IT WAS ALL FOR MY LOVE OF VIDEOGAMES MUSIC.

The next day was the day of VGL. :3 :3 :3

I went to KLCC and met up with linkin. Walked around a bit, went to the convention center and went to PCFair (which coincidentally was on the same day itself) and dropped by at the WCG booth.

I initially wanted to try and play Guitar Hero 5 there, but people kept hogging the game. So no chance lah.

nyoro~n

Wanted to find the Intel Core2Quad for my PC. D:

Anyway, enough about stuffs other than VGL, let’s talk about VGL!

Video Games Live is by far the best show I’ve ever attended.

A little recap, I got tickets for both shows, 2:30pm and 8:30pm. Initially I was expecting it to be a different show altogether since it IS two shows after all.

But it was just one same show. D:

Anyway, went for the 2:30 show and there were cosplayers strutting off their stuff.

One cosplayer that caught my eye was this. NEMESIS!

I can’t remember who the winner was lol.

But either way, Jack Wall came onto the stage and started playing a medley of songs, consisting of Poing, Space Invaders, Duck Hunt, Contra, etc. etc.

What a way to start the show.

After the medley was finished, the man himself came up on stage, Mr. Tommy Tallarico!!!

He then introduced Mr. Hideo Kojima (who obviously wasn’t there) to introduce the next song, METAL GEAR SOLID!

WOOOOOOOOOAH!

Cardboard box made an appearance as well.

!!!

After the MGS bit, it was God of War. I didn’t really play God of War, but the song was marvelous.

A lady by the name of Laura Intravia sang during the GoW bit.

Then it was game time. Tommy selected a guy from the audience and it was a 40-year-old guy. Woah lol.

He was asked to play Space Invaders! But the catch is… HE WAS THE BATTLESHIP! So that means he has to run around the stage while pressing the button. The prize to finish it under 1 minute was a limited edition arcade yo. But alas, he didn’t make it. Poor guy.

There was a short video about the inventor of video games, a little bit about Mr. Ralph Bear.

He was the first person to invent video game, something like pong, but with extra curves.

The next game was Shadows of the Colossus. I’ve never heard of this game (shame on me) but it does look interesting. Need to search around.

After that, it was Sonic!

Let’s.

Listening to the song of Green Hill Zone being played and also the Sonic Theme song was amazing.

YEAH!

After Sonic, it was ZELDA!

The lady from before, Laura, dressed up as Link and played the flute. She was awesome on flute. Very very awesome. She was, obviously, playing Zelda songs.

She went off and then the whole orchestra started playing songs from The Legend of Zelda. Mind blasting.

Then it was break-time.

GENIUS!

Act II finished loaded and it started with Mr Jack coming up and asking the audience,

“Do you know Disney?”

YEAHH

“Do you know Square Enix?”

YEAAAAH

“Do you know what game is coming up?”

KINGDOM HEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTS!!!

“And that’s what we’re going to play for you,”

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Kingdom Hearts theme song was on. It was amazing. Seriously. Too awesome to handle.

The song is called Simple and Clean, and here’s a Youtube clip of it.

I just can’t stop listening to it. Everytime I do, bulu roma naik sial (or in English, we’d call it GOOSEBUMPS).

Hell, I’m listening to it now, and AEAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!

Back to story.

After Kingdom Hearts, it was Warcraft.

Warcraft also was amazing, but if I actually played the game, I would really love it. Alas, I didn’t.

Then next up was a guy who composed songs for Metal Gear Solid, Mr NORIHIKO! AEAAAAAAAAH!!!

And he was about to play his favourite song, SNAKE EATER!

EAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! *head explode*

I just cannot express how awesome this bit was. I mean, IT’S SNAKE EATER! AEAAAH!! I wish Laura would sing though. That’ll be more awesome. Everybody with me now, “I’M STIIIIIILL IN A DREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM

SNAAAAKE EAAATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.”

After the amazing Snake Eater it was Mario time.

Doot doot doot. You know the songs, you know how it goes like, so no introduction needed. All I can say it was amazing.

Then it was time for Guitar Hero 5, but with a catch. A guy (with a plastic guitar) will play alongside Tommy (with a REAL guitar) and try to get a certain score playing it.

I could have been up there though, but I was busy walking through PCFair and I forgot all about it. :(

That dude there really played well. He was playing Van Halen – Jump. Insane solo part.

After GH5, it was…

MEGAMAN

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAEAAAH!

On Youtube, I stumbled upon a very interesting song that uses a level song from Megaman and puts lyrics and gives the song a more rock feel.

The song was named Okkusenman.

AND IT WAS PLAYED DURING THE CONCERT. KYAA~~~

Try searching Okkusenman on Youtube and you’ll understand why it’s such an awesome song.

And then Halo was on.

Tommy was rocking his ass off with his guitar.

Suddenly out of nowhere Master Chief came out.

And then to end the whole show, they started playing ONE. WINGED. ANGEL from FINAL FANTASY VII. OH WUT,.

Cosplay FTW.

Then they all said their goodbyes and went back.

OR DID THEY?!

ENCORE LA WEI. ENCORE!

An encore was given and they played songs from Chrono Cross/Chrono Trigger. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAH.

And they think an encore is not enough, Tommy and Jack decided to make ANOTHER ENCORE.

Just watch the video and you’ll know how awesome the final song of the whole show was.

Watching this video gave me intense goosebumps. Imagine if you were sitting in the hall then. Too. Awesome.

The best way to end a show. Seriously. Hands down, the best.

No no Laura, not hands up. but HANDS DOWN.

THE BEST. THE. BEST.

Phew. Then the 2:30pm show done. Wanted to get signatures from Tommy and co., but I had a date with a very very old classmate of mine.

Went off, and I accidently left linkin D: sori pak. Went straight to KLCC and met up with Norli, old classmate of mine. :D

Walked around KLCC with her until 8pm and we went our separate ways. Hoping to see her again soon.

Now some of you might be asking, why wait until 8pm? Because I was going to attend the 2nd show at 8:30pm.

I actually had doubts about attending this. One part of my mind was saying, “What for go? You already heard the songs, go back la and sleep,”.

But my other part was saying, “Remember what the dude on Twitter said, it’s the experience that matters,”

And now I would seriously like to thank you Mr VGLMsia Twitter guy, because if you didn’t say that, I would have went back and sold my ticket to another gentlemen.

Because dear god, the 8:30pm show was INTENSELY AWESOME. MORE AWESOME THAN THE 2:30PM SHOW.

This is how a 2:30pm show looked like.

But during the 8:30pm show, It was a full house.

No not this. This is the choir.

The cheers, the audience, …

Instead of a 40 year old guy, it was a 24 year old guy running around the stage playing Space Invaders.

…the shoutings. It was awesome. I’ve never experienced something such as this before.

Eventhough the songs were the same, but listening to Megaman (side note, remember I mentioned that the song okkusenman was being played during Megaman? 8:30pm show, the audience literally screamed “OKKUSENMAN OKKUSENMAN” which was seriously awesome), Kingdom Hearts, and listening Tommy say, “LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,” again for the 2nd time gave me more goosebumps than the 2:30pm show.

The experience is what matters. So I can safely say my money was well spent eventhough it was on the same thing.

Video Games Live, please come back to Malaysia next year. I seriously am going to go again.

:D

Went back home and next day went back to KLCC to get Windows 7 Home Premium for my friend back in Miri. I got myself a free bag, and also won a baby blue laptop bag. I KEEP THIS!

Then it was time for me to go back to Miri with a very nice memory.

My cousin-cum-uncle dropped me off at KL Sentral, and off to KLIA I go.

Guten bye!

I got souvenirs for myself, but the price there was amazingly cutthroat prices. RM60 for a shirt! Agh!

But then, I got myself something limited and awesome.

YEY. POSTER. It could have been more limited and awesome if I asked for a signature :(

But oh well. Tak ada rezeki kan?

So that’s how I enjoyed my short weekend trip at KL. Lots of people tak puas hati because I didn’t tell anyone I was at KL :(

I’ll be in KL in June. THERE I SAID IT. KALAU TAK TAU, DON’T BLAME ME! SAPA SURUH TAK BACA MY BLOG!

So to end this, I’ll embed the video of the Megaman bit during the 2nd show.

OKKUSENMAN! OKKUSENMAN!
