Heavy flood strikes my kampung

Ladies and gentlemen,

Do you remember this picture from this post?

This was dated 18th January 2009.

A few weeks later..

WHAMMO!

Yes, it’s flooding in my kampung, located at Niah.

If you see the news, you’d find out that Niah, Bintulu, and Mukah if I’m not mistaken, got hit by serious floods.

My mom received a call from my grandmother on 31st Jan, and she went to my room and told me about the flood at 7am in the morning. Orang nak tido, suddenly she wakes me up.

Well, original plan was to head there and sleep overnight, but it was kinda dangerous (no seriously, it was. i wasn’t lazy. honest) so postponed the trip to the next day, which is 1st Feb, basically, today.

Depart at 11am after buying some stuffs for my grandmother and my cousins who were there.

When we reached the 2nd bridge on the way to Bintulu, we saw this.

Eh wrong pic.

A flooded road! It was deep too. We didn’t really expected this, we thought the flood was inside the kampung itself. Didn’t think it would affect outside here too.

Everyone stopped because, there was no way to get across (most of them did though, so damn desparate)

We had no choice, we parked the car on the bridge, and walked across the flooded area, leaving the spectators in shock and awe.

Dah la it was hot, and the water was considerably cold.

The water was deep, until my sister’s knees.

HAHAPADANMUKA.

*ahem*

Anyways, we had to walk all the way, but once again, we saw this.

Don’t worry, I’ll get the picture right.

Another blocked path! This time, the water’s damn deep! And daaaaaaamn deep it really is. Can you see those ladies walking? It’s THAT deep! (and cold too). Thank goodness there was a boat to carry us across.

The school is flooded, no school for the kiddies. Yay! I feel so happy for them.

So our cousin was waiting for us on the other side, walked again, and reached the bridge, which doesn’t look like a bridge anymore. It’s like a regular path with metal railings on it. Woah. I didn’t take a picture because I was still so shocked to see my own kampung flooded like mad.

And so, WELCOME TO MY FLOODED CRIB! (uh, my nenek’s crib)

To enter, there’s a pathway, a very special pathway.

Let’s step inside dawg, and I’ll give you a tour of my palace dawg.

This is the place where we all hang out dawg. Well, used to.

Now let’s see inside of the house dawg.

This, dawg, is the living room. Now it’s just your average flooded house.

And this is the kitchen. It’s very deeeeep.

This is the view from up above dawg.

Yeah, as you can see, my kampung is in one gigantic mess. Water every where you go, can’t escape them. Most importantly, it’s poop water! (well, not sure la but the water’s dirty, that’s for sure)

My mom said that the kampung across this kampung (kampung Sepupok f.y.i) they spotted a crocodile. WHUT!

Anyway, we hanged around until 4pm, it rained for a while, but it wasn’t heavy.

In order to get back to where we were, we had to use a boat.

A wtf experience, I have to say. WE ALMOST RAN INTO A ROOF DAMMIT! AAAH! A ROOF! A DAMN ROOF! ;_;

Apart from almost running into roofs, we bumped into a street light and a sign. IT WAS MADNESS!

So we went back, and right now I have a headache. Ack. But it’s slowly fading away though. Hoorah. My sister had a fever. Kesian dier tu.

Well, I think it’s gonna be quite some time until the water clear. It’s raining cats and dogs lately, almost every single day, non-stop. Could take a while, maybe mid-February?

My granny just called and she said that the electricity got cut off. Hampehs! First there’s a flood, then there’s no electricity. Kesian weih!

I hope things settle down as soon as possible. :(
